Welcome to the Conflict Transformation in the Arts and Beyond Blog
Here, we will be sharing teachings and wisdoms cultivated in the project through a series of blog posts
This project supported by the Canada Council for the Arts cultivates well-being, resilience, and sustainability outcomes of individuals and organizations in the Arts & adjacent sectors by building the capacity and resources to strengthen our resilience through moments of conflict
With the support of with conflict transformation educators including Urpi Pine, Moyo Rainos Mutamba (Co-Founder of Bloom Consulting and Professor of Social Work), Meenadchi (Author of Decolonizing Nonviolent Communication), we will share education around conflict transformation models that are rooted in understandings anti-oppression and decolonization.
In Phase 1 (Fall 2024), Greenhouse Theatre and our organizational partners engage in education around conflict transformation models
In Phase 2 (Jan-April 2024) will develop and test the transformation models with the community members we serve the unique conflict transformation models we develop with the support of our educators
In Phase 3, (April-August 2024). the project will culminate into a knowledge stewardship process through which we share the knowledge cultivate in our project with our broader community and the public. Our knowledge stewardship process includes
(a) The “Transformation Convergence” in Summer 2025 bringing together community members desiring to deepen in co-learning and conversation around conflict transformation
(b) A filmed podcast series in which we share conversation our organization partners, educators, and board of wisdom keepers who have guided us through the project
This project is catalyzed by
(a) the need recognized by our organization and partners to build internal and collective capacity-building around conflict transformation to support resilience for organization in the Arts and adjacent sectors
(b) the problem of the lack of diverse models for conflict transformation available to arts organization
(c) the need and opportunity to create space for diverse knowledge stewards of conflict resolution models to share knowledge with one another, artists, arts organizations and diverse sectors beyond the arts.
